In Year 10 you will focus on four pieces of coursework to complete you GCSE English coursework folder.
In Year 11 you will complete one final piece of coursework in preperation for your Literature GCSE. This would be a choice between Hobsons's Choice and An Inspector Calls. Once your coursework has been completed, it's time for exam preperation!

At AS you will study Unit 1, this is an open-book exam consisting of four texts:
- The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Night by Mark Haddon
- Great Expectations/Pride & Prejudice
- Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge
- Selected Poetry - Robert Browning
At Unit 2 there is a portfolio of two pieces of coursework
- One based on Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller
- The other based on Othello
At A2 you will study Unit 3 which is a closed-book exam where you will be expected to study another four texts from the following genres:
- Elements of the pastoral
- Elements of the gothic
Unit 4 is a portfolio of two pieces of coursework
- The first a conventional essay of analysis on a text chosen by you
- The second a recreated piece on a text you have studied.
