Resistant Materials is taught in Yr 7 and Yr 8 for half a year during a double period through the Design and Technology Curriculum.

In Yr 7 pupils learn how to safely use the machines and tools in a workshop environment. Through structured tasks they learn how to manufacture, using a range of materials to produce an enamelled copper keyring, a game with packaging, and electonic dice.

In Yr 8 pupils learn to use the workshop, becoming more independant users of tools and machinery. They learn how to care for the environment and produce tests on materials and structures to plan, design and produce a scale madel of a self-sustaining environment.
