ADMISSIONS POLICY

The College will cater mainly for children of parents who are practising members of the Islamic Faith. However, it is intended that the governors of the voluntary aided school will make an arrangement with the local Education Authority under Section 413 of the Education Act 1996 to admit a maximum of 10% non-Muslims Students if the college is under subscribed.

Admission to the College will be in accordance with the following criteria in priority order in the event of over-subscription:

If the College is over subscribed for any postcode areas then criteria (a) and (b) will be applied, in that order of priority.

  • Muslim girls who have a sister on roll at the College and who live at the same address at the time of admission.
  • Muslim girls who reside nearest to the College measured by a straight line from students' home postcodes to the permanent site of the school at Cliffe Road.
  • If the College has any places left after this then the order above will be followed again for each postcode in the same order but without there being a maximum number from each postcode.
  • If there are still some places unfilled the College may take up a maximum of 10% Non-Muslims girls. Those girls living closest to the College (Cliffe Road site) will be offered a place as measured by the nearest available walking route.

NOTES:

  • Sister means children who live at the same address with the same family for example foster children would be considered as sisters but cousin-sisters would not.
  • Address refers to the student's permanent address at the date of admission.
  • The order listed above may be overridden by the Governors if they feel there are exceptional medical grounds for admission.
  • The order listed above may be overridden where a child has a statement of Special Education Needs.
  • The definition of a Muslim for admission to the College is a girl who honours in her words and actions the SHAHADA and remembers always that there is nothing or no one worthy of worshipping other than ALLAH (SWT) and MUHAMMAD (PBUH) is the final prophet of ALLAH.
  • If the order described is not detailed enough to distinguish between applicants places will be given out based on the distance from home to the College as measured by a straight line.
