Involving Parents
We recognise that to succeed in our ambition to be an excellent College with an Islamic Ethos, students will need a high level of support at home, at College and in their community.
Creating a partnership with parents depends on having regular and positive contact, building trust and confidence and a genuine commitment to involve parents in supporting their child's learning. We aim to keep in regular contact through newsletters, telephone, letters, informal meetings and parent consultation evenings.
Complaints Procedure
Parents who are unhappy about any aspect of the College should contact us without delay.
Senior staff will always be available to meet concerned parents by appointment. It is our experience that most concerns can be dealt with satisfactorily by means of such direct, but informal, communication.
In the event of a parent wishing to make a formal complaint, this should be in writing and addressed to the Headteacher. Any parent who is still not satisfied after taking this course of action should contact the Chair of Governors, whose name is given elsewhere in this prospectus.

Keeping your child safe on the Internet
Feversham College use several methods to make sure that students are safe and enjoy using the Internet to learn. The Internet is very resourceful but can be dangerous if not used correctly.
Please view the Parents Leaflet to see how you can protect your child whilst they use the Internet at home - Click Here -
Computers for Pupils
All 134 pupils who completed and returned their questionnaire before the summer holidays 2009 will be provided with a computer and internet free of charge.
Please contact Miss Rafiq for futher enquiries.
Vertical Tutoring
As you are aware from January 2009 we are changing to a vertical tutoring structure. Many schools have already changed their support structures this way.
The main aims of vertical tutoring are to:
- Create a real sense of ‘family’ and community atmosphere within the school
- Improve the support, care and guidance students receive about their learning
- Create opportunities for students to take on leadership roles acting as mentors, coaches and ‘buddies’ to others
- Help bond students across the year groups thereby removing the tensions that can sometimes exist between different years and the fear of bullying.
Students will be placed in a mixed age tutor group comprising from years 7 to 13.
Each tutor group will belong to one of four houses led by a house leader and other staff. Through the year we will be running different kinds of activities to help give each house an identity and each student a sense of belonging and team spirit. Each house will have a name to help reinforce this identity.
This structure will help to raise standards of achievement through the students acting as peer mentors, ‘buddies’ and coaches to others in their tutor group.
As parents your first point of contact will be your daughters House Leader. You should have recieved a letter with all the right information concerning your daughter and her new House.
Any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch
We anticipate that these changes will strengthen our already successful pastoral structure as personal tutors will only be dealing with 3 or 4 students from each year group at any one time and no more that 20 students in total.
This means that at crucial stages of their education, such as when choosing options or when preparing for examinations, the personal tutors will be able to devote more time to each student than they would have done with nearly 30 students all at the same crucial stage.
